[MAIN PASSAGE FOCUS]:
MALACHI 3:1-3 + 6 (NLT)
[The Coming Day of Judgment]
1“Look! I am sending my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. Then the Lord you are seeking will suddenly come to his Temple. The messenger of the covenant, whom you look for so eagerly, is surely coming,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.
2“But who will be able to endure it when he comes? Who will be able to stand and face him when he appears?
For he will be like a blazing fire that refines metal, or like a strong soap that bleaches clothes.
3He will sit like a refiner of silver, burning away the dross.
He will purify the Levites, refining them like gold and silver, so that they may once again offer acceptable sacrifices to the Lord.
6“I am the Lord, and I do not change. That is why you descendants of Jacob are not already destroyed.
PSALM 24:3-5 (NLT)
3Who may climb the mountain of the Lord?
Who may stand in his holy place?
4Only those whose hands and hearts are pure,
who do not worship idols
and never tell lies.
5They will receive the Lord’s blessing
and have a right relationship with God their savior.
[Verse 4 TPT]
4Those who are clean—whose works and ways are pure,
whose hearts are true and sealed by the truth,
those who never deceive, whose words are sure.
2 CORINTHIANS 7:1 (NLT)
1Because we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that can defile our body or spirit. And let us work toward complete holiness because we fear God.
[TPT]
1Beloved ones, with promises like these, and because of our deepest respect and worship of God, we must remove everything from our lives that contaminates body and spirit, and continue to complete the development of holiness within us.
NOTES:
Purify Defined:
-Decontaminate
-Cleanse
-Purge
-Relieve
-Unburden
-filtrate
-Redeem
GREEK: 'Katharizmos'
Defined as: cleansing, purification and undefiled
It can also mean: to make clear or innocent
[The immutability of God - unchangingness, invariable, constant nature]
FOCUS 1
Only when we fully embrace God's purification (refining) process can His purposes be fulfilled in and through us.
TITUS 1:15-16 (NLT)
15Everything is pure to those whose hearts are pure. But nothing is pure to those who are corrupt and unbelieving, because their minds and consciences are corrupted.
16Such people claim they know God, but they deny him by the way they live. They are detestable and disobedient, worthless for doing anything good.
Daily ask God to:
Cleanse my mind.
Purify my heart.
Refine my motives.
Align my steps.
Make me more like Christ.
FOCUS 2
When we come with repentance, we need to know the gravity of what we are repenting for and the responsibility we have to live in holy accountability before God; to walk away from what we laid down to be crucified.
MATTHEW 5:3 (NLT)
8 God blesses those whose hearts are pure,
for they will see God.
FOCUS 3
We have an inheritance of covenant blessings that is made ready by God, but we can only access them with pure hearts and refined motives.
LEVITICUS 26:3-13 (NLT)
3“If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands,
4I will send you the seasonal rains. The land will then yield its crops, and the trees of the field will produce their fruit.
5Your threshing season will overlap with the grape harvest, and your grape harvest will overlap with the season of planting grain. You will eat your fill and live securely in your own land.
6“I will give you peace in the land, and you will be able to sleep with no cause for fear. I will rid the land of wild animals and keep your enemies out of your land.
7In fact, you will chase down your enemies and slaughter them with your swords.
8Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand! All your enemies will fall beneath your sword.
9“I will look favorably upon you, making you fertile and multiplying your people. And I will fulfill my covenant with you.
10You will have such a surplus of crops that you will need to clear out the old grain to make room for the new harvest!
11I will live among you, and I will not despise you.
12I will walk among you; I will be your God, and you will be my people.
13I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt so you would no longer be their slaves.
I broke the yoke of slavery from your neck so you can walk with your heads held high.
FOCUS 4
Purification is the process of consecration (holiness/ sanctification)!
This is how we become 'unbridled' in our 'devotion' to Jesus!
